At the annual MAGIC conference, we talked a little about this new Open Source Initiative - intERPrise.
The object of IntERPrise is to provide an industrial strength base ERP, with core financials (AP, AR and cash management), available Open Source. It is a Native, data centric, multi-tier, ILE and DB2 database.  In the early stages, the Alpha announcement was made at Fall Common conference in Pittsburgh. Initial project code has been posted to GitHub -, and contribution may be made in the usual way.
The team of international IBM i developments Marinus van Sandwyk, Chris Hird and others make up a steering committee for the project. So, how can you become involved? Initially by reviewing the architecture and standards/conventions carefully and providing the day-to-day management team ( with justified criticism and recommendations of suggested changes and improvements. That implies that you must familiarize yourselves with the education materials we have provided (, which implements the architectural and coding standards that underpins this initiative.
The objective is to breathe new life into the platform and community. Providing a MODERN, NATIVE to IBM i data centric BASE ERP (Financials) that LEVERAGES the operating system, ILE and DB2 for i to the maximum, that implements latest software engineering principles. All the source is published, which means that installations can use the code and code templates to adopt the same design paradigm and coding standards gradually in their development shops.
